Return of the "Old Mass"?

On July 7th 2007, Pope Benedict issued a document -Summorum Pontificum which restored the free use of the pre-1970 form of Mass to the Church. This Rite of Mass is now termed the "Extraordinary Form" of the Roman Rite. Any Catholic priest has been granted the freedom to celebrate Mass according to the liturgical books in use in 1962.

Many people of all ages have found the beauty and solemnity of this liturgy to be of great spiritual benefit. Layfolk in the Derry diocese who would like be able to attend celebrations of this ancient and beautiful liturgy are invited to submit their expressions of interest, so that a request may be made to His Lordship Bishop Seamus Hegarty.
